Ingredients

  • 1 to 1.5 lb boneless ham steak or small boneless mini ham
  • 1 tablespoon brown sugar
  • 1 tablespoon honey or maple syrup
  • 1 teaspoon Dijon mustard (optional)
  • ½ teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 tablespoon butter
  • 2 tablespoons water or apple juice (for moisture)

Directions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Place the ham in a small baking dish and add 2 tablespoons of water or apple juice to the bottom of the dish.
  3. In a small bowl, mix together brown sugar, honey (or maple syrup), Dijon mustard, and pepper.
  4. Spread the mixture over the top and sides of the ham.
  5. Dot the ham with the butter for extra browning and flavor.
  6. Cover the dish tightly with foil and bake for 30 minutes.
  7. Remove foil and bake 15–30 minutes more, until the ham is warmed through and lightly caramelized.
  8. Rest 5 minutes, slice, and serve.
